The BackBlast:

2/5/21 Backblast:

7 PAX showed for the “Frost Fight” run club on a freezing and refreshing 10 degree morning at the Wreck Center.

PAX:

Rossy, Cowboy Mouth, Baywatch, Tron, Giuliani, Bronco and FVI (Q).

Warm-Up:

Side straddle hops, Squats, Lunges, Windmills.  3 mile square run route directions provided (Ridgeland, Jackson Blvd. Oak Park Ave, Lake St.), with request for all PAX to share words of encouragement to each other as we got after it in the freezing cold.

The Thang Run Club:

Partner-up – Modified plan due to snow/ice still on side streets so we hit the busy roads that were already semi-plowed.  1 Rabbit/1 Rino pair up.  Rabbit releases to the first check point (Ridgeland/Jackson approximately 1 mile) then turns back and returns down the original path to meet his Rino.  Once the partners meet, each individual performs 25 squats, 25 lunges, 25 windmills.  After completing the exercises, the Rabbit releases again and heads to the next check point (Jackson/Oak Park Ave).  The Rabbit hits the checkpoint, turns around and once again goes backwards to meet his Rino and perform the same three exercises.  Two more run check points and partner exercises.  Once completing final body exercises as a group, all 7 PAX return to the Wreck Center.

CoT:

Everyday we face some type of adversity or challenge.  At today’s run club we had to fight off the frost and freezing temperatures both mentally and physically.  Sometimes it’s the weather, other times it’s work, family, homework, health, negative thoughts, etc..  Naturally when these moments occur during the day, my brain defaults to “Oh $#*&” and a similar outcome to the thought is usually achieved.  The challenge for today is that if/when these moments happen, similar to how we overcame the freezing temperatures at run club with encouragement, turn your “Oh S#*& into a I’VE GOT THIS”.  Internal/self encouragement is powerful.  Have a great weekend.
