Five HIMs representing F3 Evanston and Chicago volunteered at Cradles to Crayons today. We were tasked with sorting through hundreds of items of clothing to be distributed throughout the Chicago area. The organization was thankful to have us, as volunteers have dropped dramatically due to the pandemic, while need has increased significantly.
Families are struggling during this time – facing fear of the pandemic, job loss, remote learning challenges, and financial hardship. More than 225,000 children in Chicagoland are experiencing poverty, and it was rewarding to lend a hand in a small way.
Cradles to Crayons (C2C) provides children from birth through age 12, living in homeless or low-income situations, with the essential items they need to thrive—at home, at school, and at play. Last year, C2C distributed items to more than 200,000 kids.
It’s important for us as a group to reflect on the good that we’ve been gifted and to continue to find ways to give back to the community that surrounds us. After all, F3 is more than a workout. We get the hard work done first, but we always have more to give.
