Two for The Murph at Saturday Morning Cartoons. The Murph honors the memory of USN Lt Michael P. Murphy, Medal of Honor recipient. 1-mile run, then 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups & 300 squats and ending with another 1-mile run. All while wearing a 20-lb vest.
My main man 8-Track had yet to run a Murph so we took the opportunity to run it together.
Although things got weird after listening to the new Red Hot Chili Peppers album. Californication seemed to seep in a bit. Photo hi-jinx ensued.
Even though we’re 10 years apart, I feel as though we’re cut from the same cloth. We both can get after it when we want to but we don’t take ourselves too serious. We can pause and honor a hero like Lt Murphy yet can take a moment to be a little goofy. It’s part of life. You recognize the need to buckle down and work when needed but then enjoy the levity when it’s available. If you only have one speed, you might not slow down and enjoy the other stuff. YHC has been guilty of that in the past.
I’m grateful for days like today, seems like with this group they are pretty common. All of the men in Evanston do their part to make that happen. We show up to put the work in and can sometimes laugh at ourselves in the end. We’re here for each other and it shows.
