COT:  Each day in the Chicago Tribune, you can find (right before the obituaries) a section listing historical events for that particular day of the year.  I have always found it interesting and informative.  I try to print it out each morning and give it to my 5th and 7th graders.  For example, on March 10, 1876, the first successful telephone transmission occurred with Alexnader Graham Bell famously telephoning “Mr. Watson, come here.  I want you.”  (Brother Bluto, insert joke here).

Playlist (I think):  I Wanna Be Sedated (Ramones), Blitzkrieg Bop (Ramones), We can Work it Out (Beatles), Boyz-in-the-Hood (Dynamite Hack), The Kids Are Alright (Who), I’m Waiting for the Man (Velvet Underground), Fun, Fun, Fun (Beach Boys), I Wanna Get Better (Bleachers), Fool in the Rain (Zeppelin), Ca Plane Pour Moi (Plastic Bertrand), No Sleep (CAAMP), Hello Goodbye (Beatles)
