Salute to our National Parks

Part I – Intro – if you’re the first done, do Al Gores

• There are 63 National Parks (and several hundred other monuments and properties) – 63 Merkins 
• Jog to Oak Park Avenue parking garage (.5 miles away) – 17 BOMBS – because I’ve been able to do visit 17 (you can survey the group and do BOMBS for the highest number of Parks visited)
• 17 flights (5 trips + 2) up and down the parking garage stairs (Ian and I hiked 1700 feet of vertical on Wednesday, this would be about 32 trips up and down)

Part II – Jog back to Wreck Center (the AO) (.5 miles)

• Bears and Moose are two of the most popular animals
• ½ lap of field – bear crawl, moose lunge, crawl bear, moose lunge

Part III – Some Basic Facts

• First Park – Yellowstone – 1872, 18 merkins; 72 squats
• National Park Service – 1916, 19 – merkins, 16 – step ups (or jumps) on benches

Part IV – More National Park facts 

• State with the most NP – California has 9 – 9 Frog crunches
• State with the 2nd most – Alaska has 8 – Heels to heaven
• 10 shoulder touches (2 is 1)
• 10 Pointing Dogs (2 is 1)

Circle of Trust – The parks are amazing and America is a beautiful place, but what makes her great are the people you meet.  Treat people with respect (which is hard), one of the most challenging things is to see people as image bearers of God, the imago dei, and not instruments or things in the way.
