The Thang

School’s out for summer, so we did a class trip to some nearby Oak Park schools: (1) Beye Elementary; (2) Whittier; (3) Holmes; and (4) OPRF high school. At each, 2 men led the group in an exercise of their choice, then picked 2 to be leads at the next stop. Got in about 3 miles total distance and a good range of muscle-burning activities, including some from deep in the F3 archives.

Learn something new this summer: How to make a cocktail, how to fix something in your house, how to play guitar—whatever. It’s a good reminder of both the thrills and stresses of learning something new, which our kids go through every day in school. Where possible, learn something new WITH your kids. No better way to bond with them while demonstrating important traits like perseverance, vulnerability, and critical thinking.
