The BackBlast:

7 strong souls braved extreme elements to celebrate the winter solstice by rucking through Thatcher Woods in The Glooming.

Conditions: 5*, snowing with 2-3 inches of accumulation, mild breeze as we crossed the streets but calm in the woods. The amber glow of the city reflecting off the clouds provided a good amount of light as we meandered through the woods but a headlamp helped illuminate the path with more assurance.

Route: We entered the woods at Thatcher & Madison and headed north. At around 2.5 miles and just before the Rainbow Bridge we met up with our comrades who were running The Glooming. We then turned back south and bumped into the again at Chicago Ave as the were completing their 2nd beatdown. We the continued south to our starting point.

All were well prepared for the conditions and remained warm as long as we were moving. A few of us even indulged in slushy beers along the way.

COT: With proper preparation and the help of others, nearly every obstacle is surmountable.

FNG: Wizzo brought along a FNG, K2, who we welcomed to the fold.

Post beatdown fellowship was enjoyed at Scratch.
