Q Source Discussion: PRAYER (Q1.10)
THE DAILY DISCIPLINE OF TALKING WITH THE CREATOR IN ORDER TO BUILD FAITH
A Virtuous Leader must have Faith
“Without a belief in a power outside of himself a man will have no choice but to view himself as the king of the world.”
Socratic Question #1: What is the reason for life?
Prayer provides answers
“The What-What is the amalgam of the two questions…The first WHAT is what will happen when I die? The second WHAT is what does that mean about the way I should live?”
Socratic Question #2: If we live in an age of science and reason, why do we still have so many questions about how we got here?
Prayer is the Pro’s antidote to anxiety
“When anxiety arises unexpectedly it is the man who is in Right relationship with his Creator who is best able to withstand it because he will be equipped with Hope.”
Socratic Question #3: What role do Leaders play in the development of Faith in their Community?
QIC is always grateful for the vulnerability and openness these men share during Q Source discussions.
If you find yourself an ardent 1st/2nd F’er but struggle connecting with your 3rd F, Prayer may be the proper gateway.
It doesn’t have to be heavy. It doesn’t have to be aimed at anything specific or towards any “one” entity.
Prayer can be as simple as a “thank you” or as peaceful as meditation.
The bottom line:
Prayer expects an exploration outside self.
And that, my friends, is a noble pursuit.
