The Dojo 2/22/24

Conditions: shockingly but delightfully mild February temperatures with a nice sunrise and scattered drips of rain.  Bronco has encouraged us to do new things, so we were out there today, doing new things: starting earlier at 6am, doing a new workout with some out of the norm (at least for me) exercises

Warmup: daisy pickers, ISW, breakdancers, windmills, superman, rossy’s

30 minutes of stations: continuous clock, rotate stations every 1 min. 4 stations of work, 1 min of rest, then repeat, for a total of 10 minutes for the round.  Then repeat the whole process 2 more times with another 4 new stations.  Ended up being slightly core-centric and difficult, if not a lung-buster.  Probably didn’t need the 1 minute of rest each round, tbh.

Rnd 1: 3-level ’round the world merkin, heels 2 heaven, plank hold, lunge clock

Rnd 2: inch worm merkin, gas pumpers, glute bridge, peter parkers

Rnd 3: round the world bear/crab crawl, side plank, captain thor (1:4 ascending), wall sit

Cooldown: 5 mins of broga with sun salutations and lizard stretch.  Best part of the workout.

CoT: new things are hard and sometimes we have to commit and leap rather than waiting for conditions and planning to be perfect.  This is not my strength or natural way of being, but some of my favorite things in life have come from this kind of bold action.

Coffeteria followed and was, as always, delightful.  Good camaraderie and vulnerability at the dojo.  #youhadtobethere
