The Thang

We did a bit of a freestyle tour of frequent F3 stops in Oak Park. Starting at the Wreck Center, we did triceps dips, step-ups, and wall sits. From there, we did a guardian (goose) run to the high school and did some merkins and ab work. After that, we ran to a number of other stops in Oak Park, including Scoville Park and Austin Gardens. At Scoville Park, we encountered another workout group that was trying to intimidate us, but we were nice and did some Hojo-inspired BOMBS in front of the library instead of our usual spot. To keep everyone moving (i.e., warm) and to keep everyone together, rather than everyone doing the same set number of reps, the first person to get to the specified number yelled “BOOM!”, and then everyone stopped and moved on to the run or next exercise together.

“Friendship takes time and energy if it’s going to work. You can luck into something great, but it doesn’t last if you don’t give it proper appreciation.” – Betty White

As guys, we’re not always good at being intentional about our friendships, but good friendships take work, even more so with the pandemic. Loneliness at later ages is the equivalent of smoking a pack of cigarettes a day. Encourage you to take some time to be more intentional with your friendships and reach out to your buddies to talk, grab a beer, etc. Fellowship is important!
