Break off into two mixed ability level teams. Teams will start the race going in two different directions. Team 1 will head north on Ridgeland Ave, and Team 2 will start by going West and on Harvard. Objective is for teams to create their own route to 4 different Parks (Longfellow, Rehm, Carroll, Euclid) Finishing back at Irving Elementary Playground. When you arrive at a Park you complete “Merkin Mates” together, and the mystery exercise written down on the milestone flag (take this flag with you upon your completion) then make you way to next Park milestone. Workouts will be completed either near a tennis court or near a swing set, depends on where the milestone flag is located. Both teams finish on Eagles Landing Playground. First team to have all team members arrive (with 4 pink flags) wins.

Mystery Exercises: 1. Euclid- Monkey Humpers, 2. Carroll- No Surrenders, 3. Rehm- Bobby Hurleys, 4. Longfellow- Pull-ups, Finish line- Mini BOMBS.

*If teams pass by each other on same street they engage in a “Burpee Race.” For a Burpee Race everyone starts on “Go,” and both teams complete 10 Burpees per team member. When every member of your team completes their 10 they yell “Done.” Winning team continues on their way, losing team completes an additional 10 Burpees and then continues on their way. No Burpee race if you pass a team within curb boundaries of the Park (unless challenged, and offer accepted).

**Merkin Mates: One half of team does 10 Merkins while other half holds low merkin position, then swap roles.

CoT:

I was reminded recently of a quote by Mother Teresa that my mom had hung in her kitchen when I was in early elementary school. “Kind words may be short and easy to speak,  it their echos are truly endless.” When I think of that quote it makes me think of years past when someone has said some small nice comment to me, and it stuck. Words have an impact. I encourage everyone try and say something nice to other people. It may not seem like a big deal to you, but it could make another persons day.. or it could stick with them for a lifetime.
