Thang: We made a series of loops, running at 60-80% the East/West streets, and jog/recovery pace on the North/South streets. To start, we ran East on Harvard, then N/S on Harvey, Cuyler, Taylor, and Humphrey, using Filmore as our Westerly street. PAX gathered at the SE corner of Barrie Park for some BBSUs to wait on the 6. Once all together, we ran it backward, using Harvard as to travel West, Lombard/Highland/Cuyler as our N/S streets, and Filmore to run East. If it’s confusing to read, it was confusing to run! But we all made it and hustled around 3-3.5 miles.

Mary/Cool Down: Shoulder Taps, Merkins, Old Man Stretch

COT: I read an article in the NYTimes this week called “Why Is It So Hard for Mean to Make Close Friends?” which I encourage everyone to take a look at. One of the benefits of F3 for me is the opportunity to make and strengthen friendships. The article mentioned 4 strategies for deepening male friendships, which I find incredibly useful:

  1. Practice vulnerability, even if it makes you uncomfortable
  2. Don’t assume friendship happens organically
  3. Use activities to your advantage
  4. Harness the power of casual check-ins
