The BackBlast:

Today marked the 20th anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks which killed close to 3,000 people and changed the world.  It was a warm beautiful day much like this morning.  Everyone was on their way to work and I happened to be on my way to start my day at O’Hare.  Like everyone else, little did I know what lay ahead.

Four additional HIM’s showed up with your YHC this morning to honor that terrifying day.  I chose five numbers to focus on.  In the Warmarama, it was 9 and 11.  During the main Thang, I chose 93, 77 and 100.  93 was the floor the first plane hit in the North Building.  It was also the flight number of the plane that crashed into the field in Pennsylvania.  The second number is 77 which marked the floor the second plane flew into and ironically, the flight number of the plane that hit the Pentagon.  The third number was 100 as in 100 feet which is approximately a flight of stairs to honor the firemen climbing the stairs at the World Trade Center to rescue people because that is what they do.

Warmarama:

9 Daisy Pickers

11 Imperial Walkers

9 Mountain Climbers

91.1 second low plank hold

The Thang:

93 Side Straddle Hops in cadence

100 Foot Bear Crawl (Or lunge to modify)

77 Lunges

100 Foot Bear Crawl (Or lunge to modify)

93 Merkins

100 Foot Bear Crawl (Or lunge to modify)

77 Little Boy Crunches

100 Foot Bear Crawl (Or lunge to modify)

93 Mountain Climbers

100 Foot Bear Crawl (Or lunge to modify)

77 Flutter Kicks

100 Foot Bear Crawl (Or lunge to modify)

93 plank punches

100 Foot Bear Crawl (Or lunge to modify)

77 Squats

100 Foot Bear Crawl (Or lunge to modify)

93 Big Boy Situps

100 Foot Bear Crawl (Or lunge to modify)

77 Burpees

100 Foot Bear Crawl (Or lunge to modify)

then a 100 lunge to the middle.

September 11 was a day of terror but it also brought many people together.  For a brief moment of time, the world rallied together.  Neighbors helped neighbors, strangers helped strangers.  It’s a day that lives vividly in my memory.  I got home and hugged Talley and my 9 month old.  We had dinner at Lou’s Peking House.  Thank you to all who showed up today to help me honor the day.

Peace and hug a loved one.  Make it a better day for someone else.
