A New Year’s Day beatdown is just what the doctor ordered for four HIM: Denari, Homer, Noonan, and MaryLou. MaryLou gave himself some extra punishment to kick off 2019 by using “foot” as mode of transportation to the AO this morning – +3mi at 8:00 pace. Not too shabby!
Influenced by one of the most recent podcasts, Denari, QIC, started the workout by reminding pax the importance of safety. The disclaimer was announced. This is standard operating procedure, regardless of pax composition (100% local base, DR, or FNG(s)).
Thangs N Stuffs – 2019 Themed
- Freedom run – away from The Bean, north Michigan Ave (two Al Gore holds mixed in)
- Pull-ups to squat hold supersets
- Freedom run – through Maggie Daley park
- MOTIVATORS!!! counted down from 9
- Paula Abdul – 10 light poles btwn Columbus & LSD
- Dora – 100 merkins, 200 squats, 300 LBCs
Coffeeteria at Stan’s Donuts & Coffee. What a place. Panera is preferred by pax for many reasons, but HIM were drawn to Stan’s to bring fried cakes back home to M and family (and to consume for themselves over good conversation and hot coffee post beatdown). Needless to say, blood sugar spiked and emotions ran wild. The HDHH is becoming a regular occurance for Chicago pax (held on Thursday). MaryLou has graciously offered to host on Jan 10. Ruck training is also a thang, as several pax have committed to the 50mi StarCourse in May.
January 1st marks the end of F3 Chicago’s first full calendar year as a region/AO. Big things are happening in the Windy City, as pax take the “freed to lead” motto to heart.
YHC feels honored, humbled, and blessed to have become close friends with the HIM of F3, particularly the local base of F3 Chicago. We are not slowing down – 2019 will be the best year yet.
