Date: Saturday March 02, 2019
Ahhh, another balmy day scheduled for Saturday, March 2nd. What better way to bring in another month closer to summer, than to come out and join your fellow brothers in a “Suns Out, Guns Out” themed beatdown.
Missed “arms day” at yer local gym this week? We’ve got a solution for you, show up Saturday for some sleeve-busting, eye-popping arms workout. We’ll pull & push our way to sculpted guns that ol’ Joe Weider would be proud of, might even make Arnie jealous.
See you in the gloom,,,,
Weather: Drizzly early but dryer later on & 30 degrees
Got the morning started with a healthy 4-mile EC run with yours truly, Denari our Nant’an, Kodak and Homer. Skirted around the city, chatted about nutrition, kids and life. Running with a crew like this makes it pretty easy to get up at 5 am on a Sat morning. Some good 2nd F this morning.
Met back at the Bean for this week’s Sat morning beatdown. Suns out, guns out was the theme. Sun barely peeked out this morning but 9 PAX got after it. Warmed up with Abe Vigoda’s to seal claps to overhead claps. Good way to fire up the shoulders in preparation for our push/pull routine. Moved to squats, yogi bicycles (Freddie Mercury’s modified) and ended the warm-up with 5-count clock merkins.
Mosey-ed to Dip City. Took a nice jaunt down Michigan Ave towards Dip City, which for most of us weekend-only PAX was a first-time visit. Great park, not too far from the Bean. Just far enough to get the blood moving. Along the way, we managed to make a few stops at intersections for quick rounds of merkins and more flutter kicks. Noticed a few strange looks from the locals trying to figure out why a) two of us were wearing shorts on a 30-degree morning and b) doing random exercises at a busy intersection. Good advertising for F3.
Once at Dip City, we incorporated a Dora 1-2-3 style movement with 50 pull-ups, 100 merkins & 150 squats while yer partner ran the track. Ran a little short on time but good work put in by all PAX. Mosey-ed back to the Bean for 6MoM, lead by DR PAX from East Tennessee (Yukon & Jamboree).
count-o-rama 9 PAX
name-o-rama FNG (EH’ed by Denari) was given his F3 name, BoyBand
Another solid & impressive display by 9 PAX who showed tenacity & resilience in the face of Mother Nature. Wasn’t the best weather day but in Chicago it wasn’t bad. Lots of good chatter among local & DR PAX. Lesson of the day for me was learning DR PAX Jamboree has 6 kids under the age of 13 and he’s still getting after it. Well done & inspiring. As I’ve said in prior BBs, couldn’t be more proud to be a part of this group. The men are some of the best around and I look forward to the work each week but come for the 2nd F. It’s what makes F3 so successful, no matter the background we’re here to reinvigorate ourselves and each other. Hopefully we bring a little of this spirit back to our everyday lives and have a positive impact on those around us. Whether it makes you a better husband, father, son, friend or anything else, F3 is doing its job and we’ll keep it going here at F3 Chicago.
